Musically Mortiis is based on different syntheseizer sounds like oboe, french horn, brass, trumpets, english horn, timpani, piano and also his own voice as a choir effect to create more atmosphere. The tales of Mortiis are spoken, in Norwegian, which makes the whole picture complete.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY
Mortiis was originally the bass player for Norwegian black metal legends Emperor, a band that became notorious for church burning and other ritualistic behaviour under the monicker of the Inner Circle. He left Emperor in 1992 at the height of this notoriety . Mortiis then immersed himself in his solo writing and emerged as the troll-like mystical creature he is now, the music taking on an ambient, orchestral sound with soaring female vocals. He released material both as Mortiis and side projects such as Vond and Fata Morgana through his own label Dark Dungeon Music and through Cold Meat Industry. Earache Records signed Mortiis in ‘99 and released the “Stargate” album. His reputation precedes him every step of the way, surrounded as he is by rumour and accusations, some ludicrously inaccurate, and some hitting close to the truth. Mortiis has also written a miscellany of prose and illustrations entitled “Secrets of My Kingdom” which will be released by Earache Records in a leather bound book later this year.
